[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]One of my only regrets about my life up to this point is that I did not start listening to Hot Water Music for the first 20 years.

Asking somebody, “Do you like music?” is actually a pretty stupid question. It can be safely assumed that yes, most people do enjoy music in some form or another. Music has been a big part of the human experience since our distant ancestors first began to form those tiny little tribal societies. Our world has shrank exponentially since then (obviously not literally. Or maybe it literally has, I’m not going to pretend to be a geologist) and those of us lucky enough to live in industrialized nations have access to perpetual ocean of songs.
Music has done everything from telling cultural histories to fueling revolutions to the elevation of musical artist to an almost god- like status in the hearts and minds of their admirers. From the most brilliant of the classic composers to the lowliest Guns N’ Roses cover band music has been a primary avenue for human expression for thousands of years, rivaled only by the written word. Listening to music can entertain and it can help people get through the most difficult times in their lives, and literally everything in between. Such a versatile art form would seem worth copious amounts of money. And that is the best part, recorded music can be purchased for a fairly reasonable price. But, for whatever reason, a good percentage of the population steal their music from online piracy websites. This seemingly minor offense could destroy the music industry as we know it.
Any criticism is greatly appreciated as this is for a class. Danke Schon
